Quentin Hale College Scholarship Fund

The Quentin Hale Scholarship came into being, just as Romans 8:28 promises, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Bryan and Diana Hale have attended First Methodist Church Harlingen for more than a decade and have a strong Faith and relationship with God. When their son, Quentin, passed away in December of 2021, they were devastated. Quentin had been a 25-year-old attorney in Houston, who believed in God and was well loved.

Nothing could prepare the couple for the loss, but rather than focus on the despair, the Hale’s felt God comforting them. When they asked friends, family, and community members to donate to the Quentin Hale Scholarship fund, it gave Bryan and Diana hope. In helping others, they felt God working, and it brought them joy in the midst of their pain. Quentin had always been a person who valued learning, and by working with the church to create the fund, the Hale’s felt that God’s promise to use all things for good for those who love Him was a living testimony. Since the scholarship was created, the church has awarded almost 30 scholarships to First Methodist Church Harlingen members who are in college.

For 2024-2025 each scholarship is a $500 award for the year. It is renewable for 8 semesters of college to members of the church but must be applied for annually. The Quentin Hale scholarship is also proof of God loving His people. Thanks be to God.
